King's Community Group 'Quiz Nite' Success

The inaugural Parent Community Group 'Quiz Nite' was held on Thursday 10th November 2011 in the King's Main Hall with twelve teams pitting their wits against each other through thirteen gruelling rounds!

With a picture round to start and 'Dingbats' during the interval, the teams then had to answer questions based around the following categories; Geography, History, Art and Literature, Sport, TV adverts, Catchphrases, Current events and General Knowledge.

Teams of staff, parents and Sixth Formers not only had to think quickly, but also be nimble on foot as various 'scavenger' tasks were set before them.

Two teams, Quizzy Rascals and E=MC etc, quickly forged into the lead and at the end of round ten were tied in joint first place with 95 points a piece. By the end of round twelve there was still only one point between them, before E=MC etc managed to clinch victory with a good final round winning by just 3 points on the night. Well done to our Science department team! Bringing up the rear was the aptly named team of Sixth Formers; 'E for Idiots', who for their endeavours, picked up the converted losers wooden spoon each.

A signed Boro shirt was also up for grabs with the nearest answer to the question, 'How close, in miles, does the earth get to the sun?'Once again the Science department came up trumps with the closest answer and scooped the prize.

Prizes including King's Academy clocks, pens and key fobs were also on offer throughout the night and refreshments, in the form of pie'n'peas were also included in the ticket price of £2.50.

Mr Rhodes, Vice Principal, was full of praise for the event: "The Quiz Nite is definitely an event worth doing again. It is deserving of a Community Quiz Champions trophy to recognise community talent of the Future."

A great evening was enjoyed by all. Thanks to everyone who helped to make the night so successful.
